Panasonic DMP BD45 Blu Ray Player

Panasonic offers a range of Blu-Ray players from basic entry-level up to the more advanced high-end models and the Panasonic DMP-BD45 is one of its entry level models. As an entry level model this low-price Blu-Ray player is missing many of the features that are available on many of the other Blu-Ray players that are on the market.

The Panasonic DMP-BD45 comes with all the basic features that most other Blu-Ray players offer as well as a number of more advanced features unique to the Panasonic range.

The basic video features include 1080p high-definition video output running at 24 frames per second, whilst the combination of PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus and the high precision 4:4:4 signal technology provide the more advanced image features that raise the video quality output above those of similar players.

For audio output users get full support for Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD bitstream output that can be enjoyed through 5.1 channel audio.

As an entry level Blu-Ray player the Panasonic DMP-BD45 doesn’t come with the wide choice of features that are afforded to the more high-end players. Panasonic has even cut back on the standard Profile 2.0 BD-Live system and opted for the more basic Profile 1.1, which simply allows users to use BonusView to access picture-in-picture video. Dropping BD-Live through Profile 2.0 means that the Panasonic DMP-BD45 doesn’t come with an Ethernet socket as there is no need to access the internet to view the additional content that comes with BD-Live.

The only other key feature of the Panasonic DMP-BD45 is the SD memory card slot that allows user to view video and images from digital cameras and HD camcorder in a variety of formats including DivX HD, JPEG, MP3 and AVCHD.

The features and facilities of the Panasonic DMP-BD45

The Panasonic DMP-BD45 comes with a surprising number of features considering that it is one of the entry-level devices in the Panasonic range. With both basic and advanced functionality this player comes with a wide selection of features that includes:

- Video output at 24 frames per second with 1080p high-definition resolution

- Incredibly accurate colour palette using PHL Chroma Processor Plus

- Detail Clarity sharpener and a variety of other picture presets

- The playback of recordings on Panasonic Blu-Ray recorders using BD-R/RE Freesat

- Support for DTS-HD Master and Dolby True HD bitstream and linear PCM audio output

- Access to BonusView picture-in-picture commentaries using Profile 1.1 spec
